Pricing and rates
Rate lock
A dated commitment on a net amount, valid for a window calibrated on confirmation time.
A locked rate freezes the net amount you will receive, whatever the market does during the window. The duration is not arbitrary: it matches the typical confirmation time of a properly priced send, fifteen minutes for a volatile asset, thirty for a stablecoin.
After that, the order is re-quoted and the new amount must be accepted before any payout. A service cannot honour an expired rate: the corresponding market cover no longer exists. A rate held indefinitely would only be held when it suits whoever promised it.
