Sell Dai (DAI) and get paid to your account

Dai is a decentralised stablecoin accepted on Ethereum, Polygon PoS and Arbitrum One. Like other stablecoins it gets a longer rate lock window, since volatility during the wait is marginal.

  • 3 networks
  • 22 payout methods
  • 15 currencies
  • minimum deposit 20 DAI

Accepted networks and confirmation delays

The number of confirmations we require is not negotiable: it is the threshold beyond which a chain reorganisation becomes unlikely enough to commit to an irrevocable payment on the other side.

Polygon PoS1282 s4 minNone

The pitfall to know

On Polygon PoS we require one hundred and twenty-eight confirmations: the threshold beyond which a chain reorganisation becomes negligible. Expect a few minutes more than on Arbitrum.

Deposit: minimum, rate lock, precision

These four values shape the order before you even pick a payout method. They belong to the asset.

Minimum deposit
20 DAIBelow that, the network cost taken from the deposit is too large a share of the amount for the operation to make sense.
Rate lock window
30 minutesLonger window: a stablecoin barely moves while confirmations land, so market risk is marginal.
Base unit decimals
18Amounts are handled as integers of base units, never floating point numbers: no silent rounding loss.
Corridor status
BetaBeta corridor: it works, but we do not have enough volume to consider our delays stabilised. A spread surcharge applies and is declared.

Multi-country payout methods

These rails behave identically in every country they cover: same detail format, same delay, same currency. A per-country page would say nothing more, so there is none.

The delays shown are market orders of magnitude, expressed as medians. They are not a contractual commitment and are republished as soon as our own measurements contradict them.

05

What you pay, line by line

Three deductions, never one more. The lines sum to exactly the gap to the mid-market rate.

The network cost is taken in kind from your deposit, before any conversion: it is what leaving the DAI chain costs, and it does not come to us. It varies with the network you pick, which is the main reason to prefer one over another.

Our spread is taken at the base rate: a stablecoin creates no meaningful market risk during the lock window, so no volatility surcharge applies.

The rail fee depends on the payout method you pick, and it is shown in the table above before you select anything. Most local rails charge none; the international wire and the e-wallet are the notable exceptions.

Total time, with no favourable rounding

The delay you experience is the sum of two things: the confirmation wait on the network you pick, then the rail settlement. We show both separately because we control neither — we only control triggering the payout as soon as confirmations land, with no extra wait on our side.

Frequently asked questions about selling Dai

How long does selling Dai take?

Two durations add up. First the on-chain confirmation: 1 min on Arbitrum One, up to 4 min on Polygon PoS. Then the settlement of the rail you pick: under 5 minutes on Virement SEPA Instantane, and up to several business days on an international wire. The payout method table above gives each one.

What is the minimum DAI deposit?

20 DAI. Below that threshold the network cost taken from the deposit is too large a share of the amount for the operation to make sense. This minimum belongs to the asset: it does not depend on the payout method, which has its own settlement minimum.

Is the displayed DAI rate guaranteed?

The net amount is firm from the moment the order is created and stays so for 30 minutes, a longer window because a stablecoin barely moves during the wait. If your deposit lands after expiry we re-quote and ask you to accept the new amount before anything is paid. Nothing is ever executed at an amount you have not seen.

Which network should I use to send my DAI?

The one you already hold the asset on. Switching networks means a bridge or a platform withdrawal, which costs more than the delay you save. On Polygon PoS we require one hundred and twenty-eight confirmations: the threshold beyond which a chain reorganisation becomes negligible. Expect a few minutes more than on Arbitrum.

What does “beta” mean for Dai?

The corridor works and orders are executed, but the volume handled does not yet let us consider our delays stabilised. For that reason we apply a spread surcharge, declared in the breakdown, and we do not propose these pages for indexing until the corridor moves to full production.
