Limits

What you can convert, and how far

Two ceilings apply to every operation at once: the payout method’s own, set by the rail, and the one attached to your verification tier. The lower of the two always wins. This page publishes both.

The rule in one line

Applicable ceiling = the lower of the rail ceiling and your tier ceiling. A high rail ceiling is useless without the matching tier, and the reverse holds too.

Two ceilings, never just one

They have neither the same origin nor the same logic. One comes from the payment network and is not negotiable; the other comes from anti-money-laundering rules and depends on what you have provided.

Open rails

Payout methods bookable today, each with its own limits.

Verification tiers

From no verification at all to enhanced review with source of funds.

17/22
24/7 rails

Rails that execute at weekends and on public holidays too.

5
Business-day rails

Rails bound by banking hours, and therefore by a daily cut-off.

The rail ceiling

It is set by the payment network, not by us. PIX, M-Pesa and instant transfers each have a per-transaction ceiling defined by their operator or national regulator. We reproduce it as is: working around it by artificially splitting an operation is structuring, which regulation treats as a red flag, not a trick.

The tier ceiling

It depends on the verification level reached on your account. It accumulates over rolling windows — 30 days and 12 months — not calendar years: crossing 1 January resets nothing. Moving up a tier is free and is done from your account.

02

Limits by payout method

Amounts are in the rail’s settlement currency, per transaction. The minimum is not a commercial constraint: below it, the network cost and fixed fees would eat an unreasonable share of the amount.

A cut-off means an order confirmed after that local time leaves on the next business day. It is the main reason a quoted time differs from a lived one, and it is shown before you confirm.

Verification tiers

Converting a digital asset into legal tender falls under anti-money-laundering regulation: identifying the beneficiary is not optional. What varies is how deep the check goes, according to the amounts involved.

TierPer transactionRolling 30 daysRolling 12 monthsEffective ceilingProcessing time
No identity document€12,000€12,000€12,000€12,000Immediate

Standard verification€15,000€15,000€50,000€15,000Automated, human review if a document is unreadable
Enhanced verificationNo fixed capNo fixed capNo fixed cap€100,0001 to 3 business days, always human-reviewed

No identity document

  • Confirmed email address
  • Full name
  • Postal address
  • Phone number

Up to EUR 12,000 over a rolling 30 days, no identity document is requested. You provide your name, address and a phone number: the details needed to execute the transfer and to accompany it. Above the threshold, verification becomes mandatory before any payout.

Light verification

  • Valid government-issued ID
  • Liveness check (video selfie)
  • Confirmed phone number

Designed for a one-off disposal. The payout beneficiary must carry the same name as the ID: it is the single biggest cause of bank rejection, and it is not negotiable.

Standard verification

  • Everything in the light tier
  • Proof of address less than 3 months old
  • Verified payout account in your name

The default tier for a regular seller. It unlocks every open rail, including those whose per-transaction ceiling exceeds the light tier cap.

Enhanced verification

  • Everything in the standard tier
  • Documented source of funds (statement, sale agreement, on-chain history)
  • Compliance interview for a legal entity or a politically exposed person

No fixed cap: the limit becomes the rail’s own ceiling and whatever the source-of-funds review supports. Beyond that we split the operation or route it to an over-the-counter desk.

Amounts are in euros. For a rail settled in another currency, conversion uses the mid rate on the day of the order. The “effective ceiling” column applies the lower-of-the-two rule on Virement SEPA Instantane, taken as the reference rail.

How verification works
04

Minimum deposit by asset

Independently of the rail, every asset carries a minimum deposit. There is nothing arbitrary about it: below that threshold the on-chain withdrawal cost absorbs so much of the amount that the operation stops making sense for you.

Why a minimum per asset rather than one threshold

Because the withdrawal cost is denominated in the asset, not in euros. Withdrawing BTC costs a fraction of a BTC; withdrawing XLM costs a fraction of an XLM, incomparably smaller in value. A single euro threshold would be too high for some and too low for others.

The lock window is not the same for everyone

A stablecoin barely moves: its lock window is twice as long. On a volatile asset the rate is frozen for less time, because we carry the market risk during that window. If the deposit lands after expiry we re-quote and wait for your acceptance.

05

What happens when you fall outside the limits

None of these cases makes funds disappear. They only change the path taken, and each is handled by a dedicated screen rather than a generic error message.

Amount below the rail minimum
The quote is still computed and the amount is shown, but the order cannot be created. The message states the rail’s exact minimum and offers the rails in the same currency whose minimum is lower.
Amount above the rail ceiling
Same principle: the exact ceiling is displayed, along with alternative rails able to absorb the amount. We never split an operation on our own initiative to slip under a ceiling.
Amount above your tier
The order is held pending verification rather than refused. You move up a tier from your account, and the operation resumes at the rate re-quoted when it does.
Deposit below the quoted amount
The amount actually received is recomputed at the locked rate and paid out as is. No extra fee, nothing lost: it is the most common case and it is handled automatically.
Deposit above the quoted amount
The excess follows exactly the same path as the principal, at the same locked rate, as long as the total stays under the applicable ceiling. Beyond that, the surplus is handled separately.
Rolling window used up
The rolling 30-day counter is permanently visible in your account, with the exact date each amount drops out of the window. You do not discover a ceiling by hitting it.

Questions about limits

Can I run several operations to stay under a ceiling?

No, and this is not about commercial tolerance. Deliberately splitting an operation to stay below a regulatory threshold is called structuring, and it is precisely the behaviour anti-money-laundering systems are designed to detect. Totals are computed over rolling windows, which makes the manoeuvre pointless anyway.

Do ceilings differ by country?

Indirectly, yes: they depend on the rail available where you are, and each rail carries its own limits set by its national operator. Verification tiers, by contrast, are identical everywhere, expressed in euros and converted at the day’s rate.

Does the ceiling apply to the amount sent or the amount received?

To the amount paid out — the net, after fees. That is the amount that actually travels on the rail, and it is what the rail operator caps. The calculator shows that net before you confirm anything.

How long does moving up a tier take?

Light and standard verification are automated and usually complete within minutes. Enhanced verification involves human review and a source-of-funds analysis: expect one to three business days. None of these tiers is charged for.

What if my ceiling goes down?

A tier is never removed without cause. It can be suspended if a document expires, if a compliance check requires an update, or if the information provided stops matching. In every case the reason is notified and operations already under way run to completion.

Is there a limit on the number of operations?

No count limit. The only bounds are amounts: per transaction, over a rolling 30 days and over a rolling 12 months. An unusual frequency may however trigger a compliance review, which is the system working normally, not a penalty.
